Valentine's Day
Sage West, a new restaurant/club located at 924 College St., will begin presenting its weekly music performances beginning
on February 13, 14. Every weekend, on Saturday and Sunday, Sage West will showcase the dazzling talent that Toronto’s
World and Jazz scenes have to offer. Small, quiet, intimate; every seat is front row center at Sage West.
February’s theme is Music from the Chocolate countries and will feature music from Brasil and other tropical climes.
Local luminary Luanda Jones will kick off this series with two Valentines day weekend performances on February 13 and 14.
Luanda, born into a musical family, educated in Rio, has performed widely in both Brasil and Canada. Her interpretations
of traditional Brasilian and Bossa Nova standards have wowed audiences in both countries. A regular at Toronto’s Lula
Lounge, her appearance at Sage West offers Toronto audiences an opportunity to experience Luanda in an intimate setting.
Recession be damned! We’ll bring Brasil to you! On this Valentine’s day weekend, “If music be the food
of love….”, come to Sage West and partake in the musical feast that we are offering.
And finally may I remind you that , ‘food’, at least at Sage West, as well as music, is also the food of love.

Guitarist, songwriter, producer and musical director, Irinéa Maria Ribeiro has been a fixture in the Brazilian music community
for the better part of five decades. Her music has been recorded by an esteemed group of influential artists and musicians,
including Zezé Motta, Tim Maia, Sandra de Sá, Maria Creuza, Cauby Peixoto, and Jane Duboc, among others. Now together with
her daughter Luanda Jones here in Toronto, Irinéa will be presenting a night of some of the richest in samba, chorinho, and
bossa nova, blending her own original compositions with those from the poetic pens of Vinicius de Moraes, Cartola, Tom Jobim,
Marcos Valle and their respected contemporaries. Joined by bassist Ian De Souza and drummer Caco Andermarchi , this will be
a night to truly remember.

Its focus is to commemorate the women murdered in the
Montreal
Massacre, and to raise much needed funds to help women leave violent
situations before it is too late.
